No Veteran Should Freeze in the Country They Fought For
Every winter in Alaska, temperatures drop below –30°F.
And every winter, veterans become trapped, isolated, and at risk.
Four winters ago, we lost four frozen veterans in a single season.
Not overseas.
Not in combat.
Right here at home.
Alone.
Snowed in.
Forgotten.
Operation Winter Warrior exists to make sure that never happens again.
What Is Operation Winter Warrior?
Operation Winter Warrior is a joint effort between Plow Pros, Battle Dawgs, and four additional Alaska-based veteran support organizations:

Connect Vets
VAREP (Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals)
Together, our mission is simple:
Keep veterans alive, connected, and safe during winter — and get them the long-term help they need.
This program provides:
Emergency snow removal
Wellness checks
Community connection
Access to resources
Pathways into long-term support programs
Our goal is not just to clear a path.
Our goal is to protect, connect, and empower our veterans.
Why Veterans Are Freezing to Death
Many at-risk veterans are:
isolated,
aging out of support networks,
living on fixed incomes,
mobility-limited,
and unaware of available help.
When they become snowed in, the results can be fatal.
A blocked driveway or walkway can mean:
no medication,
no food,
no medical help,
no way out during severe weather.
This is a life-threatening crisis happening quietly in our own communities.
Who Supports This Mission
Alaska’s Winter Readiness Program is powered by five veteran support organizations that stepped up—despite none of them being originally created for winter emergency services or snow removal.
These organizations include:

Their core missions focus on healing, peer support, mental health, mentorship, and community.
But when senior veterans began freezing to death, each organization reshaped their operations and took on a role they never planned for.
They adapted because the need was immediate and undeniable.
Now, Plow Pros is stepping in so they no longer have to carry the winter burden alone.
If we make snow removal our mission, they can stay focused on their mission: getting veterans the long-term help, healing, and support they truly need.
How Operation Winter Warrior Works
1. Identify At-Risk Veterans
Partner organizations locate isolated or vulnerable veterans who are snowed in or struggling.
2. Provide Immediate Winter Support
Snow removal, welfare checks, mobility assistance, and emergency outreach.
3. Connect Them to Long-Term Services
The real mission isn’t shoveling driveways —
it’s pulling veterans back into community and reconnecting them to support systems.
4. Expand Nationwide Through Plow Pros
As Plow Pros launches in more states, Operation Winter Warrior becomes a national pathway.
Anyone who knows a veteran in need will be able to use the Plow Pros app to connect them directly to Battle Dawgs and partner resources.

The Cost of Supporting a Veteran
Supporting a veteran safely through an Alaska winter costs approximately:
$1,000 per Warrior
This covers:
Regular snow removal
Emergency response
Safety and wellness checks
Coordination of care
Transportation assistance
Resource connection
Administrative support
Every $1,000 keeps one veteran safe and connected for the entire season.
